There were two twins, Lisa and Eddie. Eddie died young but resided in Lisa's dreams for he could not pass on without Lisa. Eddie could travel to other people's dreams and he told Lisa about the dreams he saw. Eddie noticed something quite ominous among people's dreams. A man in a gray hat and trenchcoat would appear before a dreamer and wake them. As the days went by he appeared more and more frequently and Eddie could not help but tell Lisa about him. Lisa then mentioned that the gray man had always been within her dreams until Eddie's death. Lisa thought he tried to take Eddie but could not because his link with her tethered him to the world of the living. In time, the gray man appeared in the dreams of everyone on Earth. Lisa and Eddie were taken away and the world fell silent.
